NWA 7397
Found: Northwest Africa in 2012
Classification: Martian (shergottite, poikilitic).

Occasionally meteorites strike the planet Mars with enough force to throw pieces of the planet out into space. Against all odds, some of those fragments have travelled through space and impacted with our own planet. This is a Martian meteorite found in the dry deserts of Africa in 2012. It was examined by meteorite scientists A. Irving and S. Kuehner at the University of Washington and classified as a shergottite.
