Description
A network of glaciers characterises the coast of Northern Greenland. Ice sheets occupy about 82% of the surface of Greenland, and if melted would cause sea levels to rise by 7.2 metres. Glaciers in this region are marine terminating, meaning that glacial melt drains into the ocean. Ice regions, such as those in Greenland, act as indicators of the impact of climate change. Studying them is critical to understanding the changes that are occurring to our planet.
