By flying to the Sun’s corona, the Parker Solar Probe will gather data on the processes that heat the corona and accelerate the solar wind. Named after solar physicist Eugene Parker, it is the first NASA spacecraft to be named after a living person. The probe became the closest man-made object to the Sun in 2018. The Suns Parker Probe is a part of our planetary collection.
